ProspX and The Grace Foundation of Texas Partner to Help Survivors of Homelessness
June 12th Austin Fundraiser to Support Scholarships, Healthcare, and Career Development for Young Adults in Need
AUSTIN, Texas – May 12, 2010 – ProspX, Inc., developer of on-demand enterprise search and sales collaboration solutions for the commercial insurance industry, today announced it will join forces with The Grace Foundation of Texas to respond to the needs of young adults who have survived childhood/teenage homelessness. In addition to ProspX employees volunteering their time, the company will participate as a corporate sponsor of The Grace Foundation’s fourth annual fundraiser on June 12th at La Zona Rosa in Austin.
Since its inception in 2006, The Grace Foundation of Texas has awarded scholarships to four young adults in the Austin, Texas area and numerous others across Texas. By partnering with other organizations such as Lifeworks Austin, The Grace Foundation is able to provide multiple avenues for job placement, career training, college funding, and health and dental treatment.
It is estimated that 25 to 40 percent of youth “emancipated” from the foster care system become homeless within 2 to 4 years. According to the State Report Card on Child Homelessness (2009), Texas ranks worst of all 50 states on the incidence of homeless children and also on the policy and planning indicators that increase the risk for child homelessness. While some support is available to Texas youth who have been in the child and family services system to assist them with transitioning to adulthood, the support abruptly ends once they reach the age of 21.
“The Grace Foundation of Texas is a unique organization that was created through the vision of many collaborators,” said Patrice Pike, founder and executive director of The Grace Foundation. “Our mission is to analyze and fill the gap for young adult survivors as they age out of existing services as well as for survivors who never were in foster care and have very little services if any available to them. We are committed to seeing the foundation grow in its ability to serve more and more young adults in a profound way that will provide comprehensive assistance to continue their journey toward sustainability and independence for life.”
The annual fundraiser will take place on June 12th at 6:30pm at La Zona Rosa and will include cocktails, dinner, a live auction, and a private concert by Patrice Pike, accompanied by artist Rolando Diaz. “Working with The Grace Foundation of Texas has provided an opportunity for the ProspX team to work together on an important project,” said Todd Young, president and CEO of ProspX. “The foundation serves an important need in the Austin community as well as in Texas as a whole. We are proud to be one of the sponsors of this unique event.”
